Glencoe Remembrance...

2012 Glencoe Remembrance
Each year at the Glencoe Remembrance in Hillsboro, Oregon, we start the event with a procession through the cemetary to the Cairn that was built many years ago specifically for the Glencoe Remembrance.  This year, after the flags are placed in their flag posts, the Oregon Commisioner Todd Anderson and Deputy Commissioner Kate Anderson, welcomed the vistors.  This is was followed by a history of the Glencoe Massacre by Tammy Soto and a blessing and prayer by Tom MacDonald.  Next, everyone in attendance was invited to place a stone upon the Cairn in remembrance of those loved ones who have gone before us.  The ceremony concluded with a departing procession to the church, where everyone enjoyed each others company over hot beverages and desserts.  Afterward, many of the participants met at Mcmennimans restaurant for drinks and an early supper.  It was, like every year, a very nice time.
